Red Fruit Salad: Grapefruit, Strawberries & Apples
This Fruit Salad is amazingly delicious whether you are trying to eat healthy or if you just need a sweet treat. Just look at those naturally beautiful colors – how amazing would this fruit salad be for the one you love on Valentines Day. Be different, break out of the typical “Chocolate and Flowers” mold & make something more healthy for the one you love this year! Seriously… if you really love the person, don’t you want them to be healthier & therefore be around for you to share your life/love with for even longer!?
The natural flavors of all these fruits are some of my favorites by themselves, so whenever I am trying to eat more healthy I come up with new ways to enjoy my favorite fruits so I don’t get too bored. This fruit salad was originally thrown together at the start of the year when I was doing the Cabbage Soup Diet & a Clean Eating Challenge, but it has quickly become a favorite of mine to make and munch on when I need a sweet fix.
Eating healthy and delicious does not need to be an oxymoron. Granted, this is not a chocolate cake (you could always put it on top of a chocolate cake) – but it satisfies that sweet tooth!
I feel like saying “it satisfies a sweet tooth” is almost doing this fruit salad an injustice though. Granted it is “only fruit salad” but I am telling you that the way the sweet and tart and spice all works together is just magical… make it and you’ll believe me!
- 1 grapefruit
- 2 apples
- 1/2 dozen strawberries
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- Peel the grapefruit, you can just cut the skin off. Wash your other fruit. Cut all fruit into a small/medium dice. Mix well and add the cinnamon (I like a lot of cinnamon and probably went a bit more than a 1/2 tsp, but go by your own tastes).
- Perfect to eat right then or great to make ahead and let set in the fridge for a while to allow more juices to come out.
Two Years Ago – a Souper Super Bowl wrap-up… some delicious SOUPS as published here 🙂
And I leave you with this, Today’s Question of the Day… What is your favorite mix to put into a Fruit Salad?
